Choose the Right Lighting for Your Art

Art and Interior Design

Lighting is one of the most important things that can contribute to the overall impact your art print has on the viewer. There are many factors you need to take into consideration when deciding on what type of lighting to use for your next piece. Choosing the right lighting will give you a more well-balanced print, something that will please not only yourself but also viewers alike.

Choose a fixture that complements the style of your home.

Once you’ve determined your style and the types of light you want, it’s important to make sure that your new lighting complements the rest of your home. You don't want anything to stand out like a sore thumb—you're buying this piece to help tie everything together! It's also important to match the size and placement of new lighting fixtures with what's already in your home. It's hard enough to get everything right; making sense of the sizes, finishes, and styles can be overwhelming enough on its own. Help yourself out by keeping all these factors in mind.

Choose an art-appropriate bulb.

You may have heard that cool white light is the best choice for lighting up the artwork. But we're here to tell you otherwise! The color temperature of the bulb should closely match the color temperature of your art.

Do you have a bright and sunny landscape painting? Choose a more neutral white with a lower color temperature (2700K or lower).

Is your art print moody and dark? Choose a warmer white with a higher color temperature (2700K or higher).

The goal is to get as close as possible to matching the original lighting of your artwork so it's not too warm or cool, and appears true-to-life.

Also, look for bulbs with a high CRI rating: 80 or higher.

Look for easy-to-install fixtures.

If you’re a first-time buyer, we recommend starting with fixtures that are easy to install. Plug-in style fixtures are an excellent option since they’re as simple as connecting a plug to the wall. They can also be mounted onto the wall or ceiling with some basic hardware (which comes in the box). If you’re looking to add recessed fixtures but don’t feel comfortable installing them, don't worry! There are plenty of electricians who will be happy to help you out.

Don't skimp on hardware.

It's tempting to go for the cheaper option when picking out hardware, but that could lead to headaches later on. The best way to ensure you're getting quality parts is to shop from a reputable source.

Get a great deal to avoid spending more than you need to.

  • Look out for coupon codes. Many retailers offer coupon codes, often to encourage people to use their rewards programs.
  • Check out the used or refurbished items. Sometimes you can find great deals on used or refurbished items that are in excellent condition.
  • Use a rewards credit card and earn points every time you shop, even when you're buying appliances!
  • Look for a buy one get one free deal, especially for things like light bulbs and batteries, which are cheaper to buy in bulk because they don't cost much, to begin with.

It's important to choose the right lighting for your art prints.

Your art prints deserve the best lighting! There are so many things to consider when choosing the right lighting for your art. For starters, you’ll want to think about how you want your space to feel. Do you want it to feel more intimate and cozy? Should it be bright and cheerful? What mood do you want to create in your room?

Lighting is a great way to transform the look of a room or highlight certain features of your home. It can also make a space feel more intimate and cozy when used correctly.
